Overview
Big data refers to problems that are associated with processing and storing different types of data. Most of the companies across various business domains such as Finance, Healthcare, e-commerce, telecom, logistics today and many more rely on big data analytics to gain deep insight about their:
- Customer
- Product research
- Marketing initiatives and many more.
Today’s world witnesses a massive amount of data being generated every day, everywhere. As a result, a number of organizations are focusing on Big Data processing technologies to process large amounts of data in real-time with maximum efficiency. This has led to some amazing processing engines gaining popularity in the Big Data market rapidly like Hadoop’s Map-Reduce and Spark. These are open source big data processing frameworks built around scalability, availability, Cost-effectiveness, speed, ease of use, and sophisticated analytics. Having said about the massive amount of data that comes into the picture in a daily basis, the type of the data is hybrid. Storing different formats of data with best retrieval time is also a point that needs to be considered. Hence technologies like HDFS, HBase, Hive, Mongo DB, Cassandra came into existence.
In addition to the above we need real time processing and real time dashboard updates which requires streaming data ingestion and processing. The processing frameworks like Spark and Kafka will provide fast and highly scalable solutions. Learning the whole stack of Hadoop and Spark along with one of the NoSQL databases like Cassandra and MongoDB will always give you an edge over others in the current decade. Organizations that has technical competencies in these emerging technologies will have an advantage in providing very cost effective and efficient solutions for their clients as well as their own business.
